Digital TV Switchover in North Ayrshire

Digital TV Switchover in North Ayrshire

Posted by: Robert Cotton | Last Updated: 30.01.2011

Digital switch over is due in our area in 2011. It will take place in two stages 11 May and 25 May 2011.

Information on all aspects of the switch over and change of equipment required can be found on-line.

For full information on the switch over go to the website of digitaluk.

Digital UK is the independent, not-for-profit organisation leading the process of digital TV switch over in the UK.

They provide impartial information on what people need to do to prepare for the switch to digital, and when they need to do it. The company was set up by public broadcasters at the request of the Government.

Digital UK works closely with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR), as well as the regulator Ofcom, to prepare the UK for the biggest change in broadcasting since the introduction of colour.

North Ayrshire Trading Standards are working closely with Digitaluk to ensure consumers can receive information locally on the digital switch over as it's introduced in our area. Remember you don't need to change your television to get digital and your existing aerial should be fine.

The Digital Switchover Help Scheme

The Switchover Help Scheme

The Switchover Help Scheme has been set up to help people to switch one of their TV sets to digital. If you are eligible for help, they will explain digital TV to you clearly and simply. They can install what you need in your home. And they will make sure you're happy with how it all works.

The standard offer includes:

  • easy-to-use digital equipment
  • home delivery and installation if you wish
  • an aerial check and replacement if needed, where they can
  • helpline and retuning advice
  • 12 month digital TV aftercare service.

Over seven million people in the UK will be eligible to receive help. If you are eligible for the Help Scheme, they will be in touch in plenty of time to ask if you want our help.
