Our impartial housing advice service is committed to providing an excellent service to everyone seeking advice and assistance on a wide range of housing matters.
Our Housing Advice Services aim to provide the most appropriate, accurate and timely housing advice to our clients, to ensure that advice and information about housing, homelessness and the prevention of homelessness are available to anyone in North Ayrshire.
Housing problems we can help with

The Housing Advice Service provides advice and assistance on a wide range of housing related problems.
Issues on which housing advice may help include:
- housing opportunities within the area, including the private rented sector and opportunities for housing through the Housing Register
- details of housing associations in the area
- details of landlords and letting agents within the area
- tenants rights and rights of occupation
- what to do about harassment and illegal eviction
- how to deal with possession proceedings
- make sure you are getting the income you are entitled to, for example, welfare benefits (see benefits health check)
- rent levels and affordability issues
- rent guarantee or deposit schemes
- rent and mortgage arrears and mortgage rescue scheme (see mortgage arrears or payment difficulties)
- how to tackle debt (see which debts to pay off first)
- homelessness (see our homeless section)
- grants available for housing repair and/or adaptation
- help available for people experiencing domestic violence.
Get help with your housing problems

The Housing Advice Service offers a comprehensive housing advice service, which is free and confidential. Our advisers will be happy to provide help on any housing problem you have, and if your case warrants it, will do follow up work such as writing letters, assist with housing application forms and undertake research on your housing problem.
We can advise and help with your housing options, security of tenure, moving home, repossession, benefits, illegal eviction and harassment, domestic violence, housing conditions, private tenancies, money advice and advice for landlords.
